Actually this is a very interesting topic for discussion. Our military ties have predominately always been with America, we allowed them to setup shop in Australia in order to effectively protect us from potential Japanese Invasion, after we were neglected by the UK and Churchill. So militarily, we are very much still with America, for the past 100 years. However, economically we are increasingly in favour of China, if a war were to break out between China and the US, the repercussion on our FS would destroy Australia. We are becoming more neutral in the region, favoring peace and actively rallying with Japan regarding peaceful resolution in the Asia-Pacific region. Culturally, we use to be very 'for' America, however as of late a predominant amount of disdain can be noticed towards the US, we are seeking our own sense of national identity and are moving away from the US in terms of this.
