    Basically see where your lighting is in conjunction with your focal.
    ex: If your focal seems to have light on the left side of her,
    Then you would want to have your lighting placed in the upper left,
    in this case some lighting up higher by her shoulder would suit well.
    You can try the brush idea I suggested in your help thread,
    or use a premade light source.
    With premade lightsources,
    it's usually best to set your layer to screen,or linear dodge.
    Lighten looks good sometimes, but has a tendency to wash out the corners.

    tl;dr: make it bright in some places and dark in others!1
