Ebay does tend to side with the buyer more for stuff like this but they also have a bullshit detector depending on the person handling the case. Ebay does not automatically just refund a buyer when the amount is above something like $800~. At that point I'm pretty sure ebay asks the buyer to file a police report even if the seller doesn't respond fast enough.
I already told him to tell me the weight of his books in the box cause I know the exact weight since I had to pay the difference at the USPS office from the eBay label weight & the actual.
Wouldn't mind going over there and beating his ass if he didn't live in California.
You have his address, find a template online about pressing legal charges against him and he'll drop it. Send a certified letter so you know he received it. Give him a phone call too, just use yellow pages to find the phone number to that address.
