# Thread: If you divide by zero, is it undefined or infinity.

1. I don't know.

2. One of my classmate asked my math teacher. She just said it won't work so don't bother doing it

3. Technically you can divide by 0 since it was a human thought / creation <_>

was it? O: i missed that in my math book

Not possible. So division of zero is not undefined nor is it infinity because it breaks the laws of mathematics :O
you cannot divide by zero. zero is not a real number. it's illegal (harrharr), cannot be done.

mathematically it's undefined, but in certain circumstances, we can deduce that it can represent infinity (for example, i had zero trucks. i bought one truck. how many times more trucks do i have now?).

5. 0 = nothing

0 divide 0 = half of nothing

you cannot divide by zero. therefore, you can't assign a variable to it because you cannot do it in the first place. it's illegal (harrharr), cannot be done.

5x = 0

I just assigned x to 0

7. Not defined in real, otherwise it's infinity.

8. When you Divide something by zero it is said to be Undefined coz you cant divide a thing in 0 parts ... so thats why it is undefined and when you multiply something by 0 thats why it becomes 0 coz 0=0 !!!

Get into high school please.

Division_by_zero#Formal_operations

10. I call infinity.

11. i actually completely agree with you. but my question is.... what if you divide by -0

THEN YOUR A JERK!

YOU CAN'T. -0 = 0 = +0 = -1+1 = --------0

That is how i explain in my way and its is correct.. but i didnt used examples like a/0 = 0 .. coz he cant understand that !! @Alen

15. OMG. ALL YOU GUISE ARE WRONG! WHEN YOU DIVIDE BY ZERO IT EQUALS 69, ERR, I MEAN 1337!
