"Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harms we do, we do to ourselves."-Mitch Albom

Call Of Duty 2 had a relatively long campaign spanning well over 12 hours. Unreal Tournament 2k4 also had a long Single Player element. There are many many FPS that offer extensive campaigns. It just so happens that a lot of AAA titles don't care for campaigns.
That doesn't necessarily mean it's short, it means that you just rushed through it.
I'm sure if you took it slowly, watched all the cut scenes, etc, then it would have lasted longer.
And besides, story mode in all FPS are always boring, I didn't even finish any of them in COD.
I just bought COD for the online, same with probably everybody else.
