So I'm having this little project at school and I need your help with my design.
Objective:To design, build, and test an egg case that will protect a raw egg when dropped from the top of the bleachers of the football stadium.
- Egg cases cannot exceed a volume of 3100 cm^3 (a small tissue box).
- Egg cases cannot be made out of any type of pillow, foam or bubble wrap.
- No parachutes allowed.
- Eggs must be able to be placed in the case at the beginning of class.
I was think about using a bunch if deflated balloons and some rubber bands, but
Need some ideas. Help?

Make a skeleton out of straws in the shape of a diamond (like this http://i.imgur.com/ivgnb.png), pack the inside with tissue or whatever paper/shock absorbing material you can think of that is legal. Place egg in center. Encase the outside of the straw skeleton with a cross section of cut soda bottle.
I think he might run into hot water with the teacher for using stuff specifically designed for absorbing shock, whether or not it was specified in the rules. The point of this kind of experiment is design an entire system that absorbs shock, rather than relying on a specific material.
