The day is finally upon us, The GTX 660 Ti has launched!!!!
As rumored before, it is based on a GK104 chip with 1344 shaders, clocked at 915Mhz core and 980Mhz boost. It contains 2GB VRAM and is based on a 192bit bus.
You may hear people murmuring about how the 192bit bus bottlenecks the card, when in fact it's not true at all. If you see the benchmarks, you will know that the 192bit issue is over-hyped just like the temperature issue with Ivy Bridge.
This card is pretty much equal to a 7950 at 1080p most of the times, and even collides with a 7970 and a GTX 670 some of the times. At higher resolutions the 79x0 cards start to edge over. Overclockability on this card is limited like the rest of 6xx cards, but 1100Mhz-1150Mhz seems to be achievable even with the locked voltage. And power consumption, just wow. It consumes like 140w at max load. I wouldn't be surpised people running it with a 500w PSU. Overall, it's decent card. The price is going to be about $300 for the reference card and higher obviously for the non-reference cards.
Alright, I have babbled enough.Time for the good stuff
