1. ## Are people that stupid?

It astonishes me how many people on Facebook don't even know grade 3 mathematics. The following picture was shared, and the overwhelming majority got it wrong.

Let's see how many of you edutards get this right.

Hint: PEMDAS

Edit: if you edit we know you got it wrong.

Well i know this rule learned it in 5th grade (DMAS)

5. Perhaps more people would get it right if you presented the problem correctly.

6. PEMDAS? dafaq? We use BODMAS or BIDMAS where I am...

Anyway, it depends how you approach it. Using PEMDAS/BODMAS whatever it'd be:
48 / 2(9 + 3)
= 48 / 2 x 12
= 48 / 24
= 2

If you did it from left-to-right, using standard order of operations it'd be:
48 / 2 x (9 + 3)
= 48 / 2 x 12
= 24 x 12
= 288

7. I think 36

EDIT: Wait, it's 288

EDIT 2: Never mind it's 2 :P

8. 288 .

9. I'm getting it to either 2 or 288.
Considering your hint, PEMDAS, the answer you're looking for, must be 2.

48/2 (9+3)
= 48/2 x 12
= 48/24
= 2

10. 2 / 288 /msgtoshort

11. 2 and 288, depends on how you're taught.

12. 2 .

PEMDAS and BODMAS are the same. PEMDAS, instead of Brackets, uses Parentheses.

OT: I thought you said 3U maths the first time I read it.
I still can't believe people aren't getting 2.

15. Either way the answer is 288
because D is before the M
DIVISION before MULTIPLICATION
