Always initialize your variables when you create them.
Use descriptive - meaningful variable names.
1 int counter = 0;
2 int checker = 0;
3 float tester = 0.0;
Always prototype your functions before use.
Design your functions to do one thing well.
Practice "KISS" (Keep It Simple Silly).
