The ashes of a Missouri man's father wound up in the garbage after teenage robbers were disappointed the bag holding the remains wasn't filled with cocaine.
Devin Gesell, 17, admitted he and his two accomplices, ages 15 and 16, broke into the St. Peters home in November looking for goods, according to court documents obtained by The Smoking Gun.
Gesell was the lookout as the teenagers stole jewelry, prescription drugs, video games, $825 in cash and the remains of the homeowner's father, the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office alleges.
The items and cash were worth about $3,000 but the one item that was truly priceless was thrown away.
The suspect told police they discarded the ashes when they realized it was not cocaine.
He told police he did not know where it was located.
One of the juveniles actually tasted it to make sure it was not drugs, the website reported.
Gesell was charged with 2nd degree burglary and stealing more than $500, the website reported. The other two suspects will be charged as juveniles.
