    When modifying the weapon_camo_* trying to save a dds file with the alpha channel gives you an error too many channels (5). Also, there's no specular version of the weapon camo's to my knowledge. The only way to get gold guns is to just do each weapon individually 'eh?

    Edit : So after saving the file as a D-XT 5 dds file and going through all the normal steps, in game I get a gold and white striped weapon.

    Just posting here to confirm there's no way to get a shiny gold set as a weapon camo?

    its a fucking skin not a camo camos dont have alpha and so can not have a shine skins can.
    there is no specular for the camos no but there only for skins

    I think someone needs to make a post explaining the difference between camos and weapon skins....

    when I fixed the .iwi using crc from original and new the spc on new folder is not found. I know editing the col.iwi for gun skins and no problems. Is there any different way of editing the specular file than the color file?

    make sure you have the new specularmap and COL file in the same folder. and the ORIGINAL files in a different folder.

    Well excuse me sir, I was just making sure that the only way to get the shine was from doing each weapon skin individually, instead of just being able to somehow do it to the weapon camo, making mass skinning easier. No need to curse.

    Great guide Heartview, I managed to get almost every weapon working with Gold skins but for some reason I can't get it to work with the Barrett .50cal, Anyway, Thanks again!

    Strange, so using your tutorial I made my UMP45 gold just for learning purposes. Now riddle me this. I did the same thing I've been doing (changed my silencer, UMP, grenade launcher) to make things gold, I did an AK47 for a friend of mine. But in game it's not the same result.

    Edit: inb4 turn on specular. it's on.

    Also, I used the Ak47 specular in iw_11 that my file reference doc said to use, and in game it does have a red/orange shine to it when sunlight hits it (you don't really notice it from the picture) (also , it might not be red, I'm color deficient).

    Soooo, I don't know.

    The AK iirc needs further editing than just the specular. I cant remember exactly but if you turn the alpha channel of the color or normal files either black or white it will have a better effect.

    Basically i wanted to know how u added a new layer and get it to work?

    What tools do u use and how do u get them to work?

    Ive seen the custom camo i can do that easily put u add layers from nowhere

    I am a photoshop noob

    Would u fix a vid up for me? I can do it if i am looking at a vid
