This whole build is for gaming, your typical student doesn't need much more than an i5. When I see clientele come in for the "best of the best" and all they do is write papers and browse the web I cringe. At $1500+ your build is definitely not viable for students as their wallets are typically strapped.
Well being honest the PSU is actually quite nice and investing into a good PSU is never a bad thing. The PSU OP bought has 10 year warranty on it and able to run SLI so imo it's a fine buy to the price.
But the graphic and CPU is overkill 'for a student' - pft tbh i5-i7 doesn't really matter when it comes to gaming, well atleast not for most mainstream games.
