    Should I ugprade or not?

Hello, recently I've been debating whether I should upgrade my current rig or not. Its not underwhelming or anything, just could use a little more oomph. These are my current specs
    -AMD FX-8350
    -16GB RAM DDR3
    -GTX 980
    -750W Gold Rated Power Supply
-128GB SATA SSD (Yeah, my 2TB Hard Drive, couple of 240GB, and 500GB SSDs died out on me so on me last replacement mate.)

I'm looking to either upgrade to an Intel i7-6700K with the Asus Z170-A motherboard plus a new SSD. I have some spare 16GB DDR4 RAM laying around, bringing down the cost. Or, I could upgrade to a GTX 1080. Or buy an HTC Vive (Although my current living situation is smaller, so I might forego this option until May.)

Other reason is I have a couple Walmart gift card that totals almost $700, so that's why I'm interested in doing one of these options. I just can't convince myself to get a new i7-6700k.

I think your priority should be upgrading to an Intel processor. What are you using it for? If it's just gaming, an i7-6700k will give you slightly higher FPS than an i5-6600k, however it's not really worth the extra money, as you could use it to invest into a better GPU. If you want to do video editing or some sort of rendering, I'd highly recommend going with the i7-6700k. The hyper-threading helps immensely.

If it's only for gaming, what resolution and fps are you looking for, and at what settings (Ultra, High, Medium, Low?). Also, what games?

Like gm said, you should defiantly get a better CPU, the 980 will last for a long time playing games at ultra settings, it will just be the cpu that will be bottlenecking

AMD makes some really nice CPUs, but is light years behind intel with all the new shit coming out but yes I would upgrade the CPU otherwise keep everything the same even my GTX 750 can run BO:3 at medium and high settings

Looks fine other than AMD Processor, AMD uses artificial cores making it much slower than Intel. I recommend the i7-4770k or the i7-4790k. Perhaps and i5 processor if you don't want to spend as much money and a pretty good competitor with i7s.

Whats your budget and the use for the rig. Also if you could mention the games you play would help, because some games are CPU dependant while some are more GPU dependant.

Your setup is pretty good as is but if you really want to upgrade, like others have said you should upgrade your cpu. The 8350 is a good processor but intel is ahead of the curve in cpus. i7 6700K would be good along with future upgrades.
