Do you want to overclock your CPU? What's the most intensive game you play right now or would like to play.

I'd drop the SSD. Unless you REALLY want a good boot time and game loading speeds. Other than that everything looks good.

I'd like to be able to. Uhm, most extensive, probably League Of Legends but I was planning on buying some PC games after I had my new computer. But the games I did plan on playing would be BF3 / 4, CSS, TF2, Half Life, Garry's Mod. Basically a lot of multiplayer games. I don't even need it to be able to play on ultra or extreme, I just want it to be able to run BF3 on a stable FPS of 40 frames on normal.

Yeah I need to determine what parts to cut down on / degrade.

Don't listen to him, an SSD is paramount. Anyone who thinks a build doesn't need one is an idiot unless you're building a $300 computer for your grandma. I'll try and make a build up after work.

You won't see a single shred of difference on that build. CAS latency makes a bigger difference than clock speed on memory. Only renderers and OC freaks need high clock speeds.

I guess you're right. Thanks for bringing that up, I'm still trying to refresh my memory on computer builds. Haven't put in a computer part since last christmas and I feel behind the ball.

So my parents sort of agreed but my dad is being kinda ignorant and he's thinking I should buy a computer in store. I know for a fact that generic store brands fucking take shittier components and slap there logo on it for overpriced retail and that store brands like Hp and dell aren't oc-able but what are the other perks I can explain to him. How is buying computer components online and building it yourself more beneficial than buying from a store irl.

Online ore assembled / separate components (and ofc building it yourself) VS buying a pre assembled generic store brand computer.
