Doesn't seem like the right place to ask such questions..
But hey. Why not give it a try!

How long have you been having this problem?
    What is your Operating System?
What is the application you use to do those downloads?

And yes, the potential of a malware IS there. It's not because you scanned with a single anti-virus that you are safe. Advanced analysis might be required if judged necessary.

I don't think you want to go in a full procedure of analysis/removal. So we'll try something simple.

    Attempt uninstalling Internet Download manager.
Install Malwarebytes and do a full scan.
After that, try downloading a file with a browser without any third-party programs interfering.

If you still have problems with that, and wish to attempt an advanced analysis, contact me via PM so we won't flood this section!

    Best of luck!
