    SLI 780 VS SLI 770 @ 1080p

Once again I'm stuck between GPU's. My thought proccess now is that the 1080p resolution that Ill be using on my monitor is going to bottleneck my SLI 780's, so what would be the point in getting them when I could get similar performance with SLI 770's? I know they would be far more future proof and for £100 more it seems like an offer to be taken up but I'm only going to be gaming at 1080p and I don't plan to upgrade to 1440p anytime soon.

I would appreciate and help you could give me on this.

I'd go for SLI 770, then wait a few years and spare some cash for upcoming gfx cards.

It's starting to become a viable option in my head and if I go along with it I sure as hell hope it's the right choice.

No matter the resolution, it's usually better to go with the more powerful option.
When the earth is changed into a humid dungeon,
In which Hope like a bat
Goes beating the walls with her timid wings
    And knocking her head against the rotten ceiling;
When the rain stretching out its endless train
Imitates the bars of a vast prison
And a silent horde of loathsome spiders
Comes to spin their webs in the depths of our brains,
All at once the bells leap with rage
And hurl a frightful roar at heaven,
Even as wandering spirits with no country
Burst into a stubborn, whimpering cry.
    — And without drums or music, long hearses
Pass by slowly in my soul; Hope, vanquished,
    Weeps, and atrocious, despotic Anguish
On my bowed skull plants her black flag.

Looking at benchmarks for games such as BF3 and Crysis and such, the 780 only gives a big boost in FPS when it's at higher resolutions than 1080 and even then it's only 10-20 FPS, saying that makes the 770's an obvious choice but what you're saying also makes sense, I just don't know what to do.

I would go with a 770 (Which is what I'm running) because NVIDIA just announced the 780Ti, so upgrading to the 780 now would sort of be a waste. Also the 770 have higher clock speeds to boot and still give chase to AMDs new 'R' range of cards

I'm guessing you're running at 1080p, what's the rest of your rig like and what kind of FPS are you getting?

I did read somewhere that the video ram only matters if you go with more screens.
For example, if you use 1 screen 2GB is more than enough
But if you want 2 you'd better go with a 4GB/3GB

BF4 uses 2.6GB VRAM on a single screen, looks like next-gen is really gonna be cracking down on PC's.
