    Upgrading my Graphics card

I use a stock HP P7-1414 and am looking to buy a new graphics card. I found two cards that seem OK. One has high RAM while the other has more cuda cores.
(names are as shown on newegg)

Cuda Cores: MSI N640-1GD5/LP GeForce GT 640 1GB 64-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Will these cards work with my PC? If the both work which one will work better for gaming?

    COMPUTER INFO AND BUDGET:

    What is your screen resolution?

From a quick glance, that 4GB seems overkill - I'd choose the 640

think the 4GB one would work better for gaming though? Not too worried about overkill. And i currently use a 1600x900 resolution an an hp 2009m monitor. thinking about buying an ASUS VK248H-CSM monitor. The 4gb is also cheaper.

If it were just those 2 cards that I mentioned which would perform better in games at higher settings?

I'd need to know your price range, as those 2 cards aren't particularly the best for their budget.
When the earth is changed into a humid dungeon,
In which Hope like a bat
Goes beating the walls with her timid wings
    And knocking her head against the rotten ceiling;
When the rain stretching out its endless train
Imitates the bars of a vast prison
And a silent horde of loathsome spiders
Comes to spin their webs in the depths of our brains,
All at once the bells leap with rage
And hurl a frightful roar at heaven,
Even as wandering spirits with no country
Burst into a stubborn, whimpering cry.
    — And without drums or music, long hearses
Pass by slowly in my soul; Hope, vanquished,
    Weeps, and atrocious, despotic Anguish
On my bowed skull plants her black flag.
