    Windows 7 x64 vs 8.1 x64

I generally for the MOST part never update my OS till I absolutely HAVE to. I stayed with XP for the longest time, I don't believe I switched until a few months after they reveled that Directx 11 would not be supported on XP. Now the ONLY reason I would consider upgrading to 8.1 or even just 8.0 is for the " 10-15% performance increase" in games. So my question is, is it REALLY worth it or no? I literally can not stand the windows 8 tiles(Even though I have a windows phone, it's different for a phone to me). and I realize I can get the look of 7, but is it really worth the hassle?

Also please do note my current PC specs in my sig. It's not like I really need an increase, but it is still nice to have. I'll be upgrading the i5 soon too, I think. Most likely to a 4930, but yeah. Gonna stop rambling now.
    Computer Specifications:
    Case: NZXT H440
    PSU: EVGA SuperNova 750W
    Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth Z87
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K
    CPU Cooling: Corsair H-100i
    RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB(8x2)1866Mhz
    GFX: MSI 1070 GamingX

I hate the idea of Windows 8 as well but you can download classic shell to make it look somewhat more like Windows 7 and under.

Install 8.1. Boots up much faster than 7. Install StartIsBack and you pretty much have Windows 7 again.

Can you upgrade from Windows 7x64 directly to 8.1 64? Or do I have to format? If format, fuck it.

There is actually a metric fucktonne of shit that isn't supported in Win8. Same as Win7, and practically every OS in existence. If you don't know jack shit about a topic then don't participate.

Old? Just because all you do with your computer is sit there and jerk off to camels doesn't mean there isn't anything that is unsupported.

Don't worry.. download a program like Start8 and you would never have to encounter the horrific start menu and the apps unless you really need to access some settings.
