You're looking to upgrade to the 6300? If so, make sure your motherboard supports AM3+

Click Start then search (without quotes) "system information" and you'll see under "System Summary" an item called "System Model" and that'll be your motherboard make/model number. Find that, search for it on online and see in descriptions that sites have on it what it supports!
