    Question Power supply..

Hello, I recently bought a Radeon R9 290x and I have a 733watts power supply. I was wondering, if I have enought watts to support my computer, why does it over heat and automatically shut down my computer when I play a minute or two of GTA V?

Video Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R9 290x 200 series

Processors: Intel Core i5-3570K CPU 3.40GHz

    Memory RAM: 12.0GB

    Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology

    OS: Windows 7 (64)

If this isn't the right section or place, I am very sorry and please move it to the correct place. Thanks in advance.

Wattage isn't everything. What brand is your power supply? Besides brand, overheating can be caused by improper cooling, bad contact with heatsink, problems with overheating on the northbridge, etc. What are your temps idling? When was the last time you applied thermal paste to your CPU cooler? Did you build this PC or buy it?

Random shut downs can be caused by a VARIETY of things. You need to be more specific for anyone to really help...

Obviously this is the wrong place to post this, because this is the hacks section. So maybe a mod will move it to the proper location.

Ehh, why don't you count yourself? And why don't you look at your GPU/CPU temperature in game?

I had the exact same problem with my GTX 970, I couldn't play any games for more than a few minutes, Regardless of what Watt your PSU says it is it's not, that is the issue, Those cheap makes are never putting out the power they say they are, Look into getting a new PSU from one of the decent makes like Corsair or EVGA

That's funny, you aren't serious right? Anyway, are you trying to play with the graphics maxed and MSAA or w/e at 16x or something?

    OMG I died laughing.

then I saw below he said to paste it into my address bar HAHAHAHAHAH
then i suffocated from laughing so hard. but this post was so funny i had to come back from the dead to finish my reply.

The above LOL is why your computer don't work. you probably have it in backwards. or seated incorrectly. OR not hooked up properly there are who knows how many reasons.

    1) never seen a PSU or any electronic device with such a odd random number for its wattage.
    2) probably over heating do you even have any fans in your computer? water cooling << I seriously doubt that.

    3) get off the drugs.

any how i bet you are loosing power when your gpu ramps up (they can regulate how many watts they pull based on their utilization) = get a bigger PSU (not some shit brand either.

provide sufficient cooling to your whole computer. proper airflow, weather water cooled or not is essential. (water coolers still have a radiator)

last but not least make sure the actual card is installed properly hooked up with all the power connectors it needs of the correct type.

btw next time you wanna upload links to a pic

You just linked a local file on your PC with the [IMG] tags. *hint* the internet doesn't work that way

First, you have to find out WHAT component is overheating
Second, figure out WHY it is overheating
If it is your GPU, your cooling is bad in your case so it probably can't expel heat well and it all gets trapped inside and overheats your components or you have a faulty card with bad thermal paste, fans, etc.
If it is your CPU, the fan isn't working properly or you applied the thermal paste terribly.

    +Wrong section

So far, this isn't looking good for you.
