    You mean UEFI?

    - - - Updated - - -

Actually yes it does have an effect overclocking the CPU allows the processor to run more "instruction sets on the EDB" here you go lol 3.6GHz is 3.6 billion processes possible, overclocking to 4.7 for example 4.7 billion processes derp!

I'll be honest, as a personal super clocking user who went with the "I don't give a fuck, and fuck it. "
Type of way, I have been overclocking with this stock CPU and cooler.

I got this CPU in 2012 these are my specs.

    http : //prntscr. com/81289y

I have been overclocking for the longest, and I guess I am just blessed by the universe.

This stock monitor and CPU can handle a superclock like its nothing... And I've been doing it for so long and it doesn't break down. (fingers crossed) I eventually thought it was going to burn out or something but the PC is still up and running good even after how old it is and its STOCK. The reason why I first tried to OC was because I was going to upgrade anyways so I was like let me just see how powerful I can boost this machine if I'm getting a new piece anyways.

I have succesfully managed to OC my stock CPU speed of 2.4GHz and got it to a stable 4.1GHz.

It doesn't overheat or reach its maximum temp. (Tj Max.)

Basically the temperature when a CPU tells the system to immideatly shut down to prevent hardware damage.

I don't know why my PC can handle it, and how long I have been pulling this off. But can't complain :3

Anyways, I'm upgrading to a new motherboard and CPU soon.

    It DOES NOT.
It DOES only if you don't know what are you doing, like overclocking way too much with shit cooling.

OC is safe with a good cpu cooler, e.g.: a liquid cooler D

Water cooling is best to use,but if you have decent aftermarket air cooler you can OC with no problems

its safa but you have to do your research before! and be careful with raising the voltage!

Really safe these days, just do it slowly keep and eye on temp and check online for highest safe voltage for your components before starting.

First and foremost, overclocking damages your PC. imo, overclocking is for benchmarking.

overclocking does not damage your pc, all it does it makes the GPU/CPU fast which in return makes it hotter and thats why you need good cooling and it's only for benchmarking? if it was only for benchmarking, overclocking wouldn't be as big as it is now if it was only for benchmarking

I think overclocking is safe due to the fact that your processor will shut off on its own if it gets too hot.

keep the temperatures in check and youll be fine.. if youre overclocking a cpu then get a decent aftermarket cooler. the stock coolers are usually rubbish for overclocking.

i dont want to jinx anything but i overclocked my i7 920 from 2.6 ghz up to 3.4ghz back in 2009 and its still going now. i use it everyday and it must be on at least 12 hours+ a day...

but like others have mentioned, overclocking the cpu wont have a lot of effect for the majority of games. i do a lot of video encoding and cpu performance is important for that. for every day use if youre using a regular HD then upgrading it to a decent SSD will speed up your pc more than any cpu overclock. for games overclocking the gfx card will have more effect. and a brand name card with an upgraded cooler will overclock higher than a stock reference design.

That's true but pushing your CPU to the point where it has to shut off the computer is very bad. CPU's last longer when they are kept cooler.

Make sure to take the overclocking step by step, and pretty slowly. If you go too fast, you could ruin your hardware. Also, make sure you have decent fans or water cooling.
