Method to See/Shoot through walls !

I looked into the recent "walk through walls" hack that was reported where you delete/rename your ngcconfiguration.000.unity3d file; and while that was "fixed"; it wasn't fixed enough.

It looks like the fix was to check the byte-size in the Manifest, and compare it. However it doesn't appear that it checks anything else. If you'd like to shoot through/see through walls; follow below.

Note: You cant walk through the walls, it appears they at least added a sanity check server-side for that sort of thing.


Texture "missing" Hack:
1. Go to Steam>Steamapps>Common>Rust>Bundles
2. Open ngcconfiguration.000.unity3d in a Text editor. Find "WoodWall". Replace the last L with a 1 (or any character should do.), so now it says "WoodWal1". Doing so does not change the Byte-size of the file, but does make the texture become "missing"
3. Open Rust, join a server. Joining may take a moment, as its timing out looking for the wall.
4. Shoot people through walls. Since the server appears to take your clients word for "I did Damage to X", and your client doesn't know the wall is there, it ends up doing damage to the players. I was also able to place a sleeping bag on the interior of buildings using this method to get into their houses, place a sleeping bag outside first so you can easily get out as well.

It works i find it can cause a few crashes and massive frame drops and lock ups it also isn't allowing me to get the console up with f1 thus not allowing me to suicide to get out this could be bad if you get stuck in someone's house good luck explaining that to admin haha.

The only thing i can think of to use it for is to scout a base before raiding shooting through walls gets you banned pretty quick. Getting in with a sleeping bag is good but all i can think of is chucking everything they have on the ground and been a massive troll. Unless you can die with everything in your bag next to a wall and get it from the outside... i haven't been able to access anyone's stuff from the outside just place sleeping bag.

Exactly.

I tried with pillars, metal doors, wood doorways, everything it's possible to make invisible, but you can't do anything, only kill people and put sleeping bags inside.

You can't get items from any house, what you can do it's know where are the storage boxs and use C4 to attack.

Also you can protect your house from inside.

I know you said it would take a bit longer to load, but I have give my client a good 5 minutes and it refuses to load up. @revolver4

This actually helps alot, especially on Modded servers becuase you can /sethome outside and once you get in do /home and you'll be out safely.
