    My very first model!

Hello everyone I started learning 3ds max yesterday and this is my very first model! I'm probably going to look back at this someday and think "what a piece of crap."
I'd love some feedback on what I could do different.

EDIT: Just got finished with my second!

I'm only experienced in cinema 4d so not sure if that looks right or wrong in 3ds max.
If anything i'd say try making it more realistic, Like adding textures to the models etc.
If thats possible in 3ds max.

I'm trying but it seems to be messing up. I'm trying to apply the textures to specific places by selecting them and dragging the material but it looks bad. Then I tried adding a uvw map and selected box and it looks right but when I deselect the uvw map it goes back to looking bad again. Wtf.

I can say that you're on the right track! The model quality is average for a beginner (better than when I started :/) and the biggest issue here is indeed texturing. Since models aren't elaborate to the point of adding door knobs or windows frames, texturing could be a solution if you don't have patience. Also, it lacks lighting, but thats another story...

Alright thanks alot for the feedback! I'm texturing it right now but running into some difficulties. I'll show you the textured version when i'm done if you want

    EDIT: Alright here it is!

Here's the link if it doesn't open for you

Can you give me some advice on texturing?

Okay, it is normal to have textures spread and be like this. The texture that should be replaced/improved first would be roof.
I will find one I think it should be good: http://cdn.head-fi.org/f/fa/fa24d61c..._gradient2.png

Now, you need to make a floor and texture it with a ground/grass texture
Then if you manage to get it right, try to put in some lights to add shadow. Adittionally, look online on how to make ambient occlusion and try to put shadow into area (like, after inserting light, you can change shadow properties aswell, set it to area so it would look more realistic).

But what if I'm going to import it into a game engine? I'm going to import my models into unity. Wouldn't using the grass of unity be better? I imported it into unity but for some reason the back of the barn house is invisible but when I look at it from behind it's there again. Is that a "universal" problem that happens alot and if so, do you know what could be the problem? One more thing, if i'm building stuff like this, should I use a UVW map or an unwrap uvw?

Actually I didn't realize it was for a game, if so then I don't know what you should do exactly :/
