    Copyright in Signatures.

Ok, I've had this conversation flaming up on another boards, and I'd like your opinions.

How would you determine whether a signature (or any artpiece for that matter) can be called as made by yourself, and not just ripped from another artists work?
Where lies the line between copy/pasting a stock and manipulating it in your own work?

How do you feel copyrighted material should be handled?
Left alone? Credited? Or even purchased?

    Let me know

The only real way for anyone to really know its yours is either to have your signature/name on it. Thats how real artist do it too.

Stock is stock. The original owners of said stock are the original artist. Hardly anyone on the internet actually made the original, so feel free to rip it.

    Renders are the same.
    ---------------------------

Really though signatures that just involve stock manip or some shit are pretty lame. Its usually if not always just a tad bit better, or a tad bit worse than the original.

    Ripping is easy for me.
    1. Does it have your name on it?
    2. Do you take credit for making it?

Thats it. I don't give a shit if you didn't make it, but don't take credit for it if you didn't.

    I can pretty much agree.

And placing your name in the tag is ofc a nice way to prevent ripping, only problem is that I suck at text in sigs and usually choose not to put it there (especially my name)...

    :/

You can't take credit unless you put the text. Same with pretty much all art.

Mona lisa has da vinci's signature(well the original does).

Not to mention real life art can be examined in many more ways than internet art.
