    Religion = Control

    Am I the only one who thinks that religion was created to control society?
    Like, say you do something bad you go to an infernal eternity?
    Thus it would make controlling society much easier. Less to worry about because humans fear the afterlife so they don't know if it is true, and don't want to suffer...

    amirite? idkk

    Free will - Leads to:
    Violence,
    Non-acceptance,
    Less spiritually accepted people,
    less spiritual based educations,
    Stupidity,
    Ignorance,
    Ruined society,
    More wars,
    Pollution (Physical based and mental based),
    Crime,
    Less chance for a believer to exist,
    mass extension of mankind,
    More government control and secrecy,
    Mass murdering of natives,
    Lack of respect for individual humans,
    Possibility of justifying an act of invading another country,
    The list virtually goes on, and consider these properties bad.

    All these properties would for a true believer not be present. A true believer follows the word of the lord down to the narrow bit of it meaning that these things cannot exist.

    Religion is not controlling a man, for another mans pleasure. Religion is for God to control us. If so we need someone to interpret the word of the lord, then so let it be.

    Your response was reasonable, but you say so many random things that people think you're a joke.

    @xX-RISE-Xx

    I've thought this same thing, but I don't view it negatively. We're Americans, so we can pick and chose what and if we believe. The values most religion teaches are good values for human beings to have if they're going to co-exist.

    :/ Doesn't matter who controls us, its wrong.

    Free will is something you don't understand clearly, since for the most part it would be right to say that God would have given us free will. Yet, even then you can't go on saying that free will is wrong "in some cases", its all or nothing.

    Agree with most of it. Reliogion seems to always be made the same way, people dont understand something so they lie/guess at it then call them selves a prophet.

    Well religion serves its purpose, and it creates order for the anarchic.

    But its not like you can just apply religion to everything.

    Right right. Because Holy books never advocated doing wrong to fellow humans.

    you's wrong.
    But what I meant was that religion was made to CONTROL certain populations..
    Like the catholic church, when Galileo discovered that EARTH rotates around the sun, not the sun rotating around the earth, that it would cause people to realize that there is science. And so people would wander off from the church, and having a "free will", so then it would make it harder to control society.. >.>

    actually your wrong + thats hundreds of years after its creation, so the intention of religion to control Galileo wouldn't exist since he wouldn't even be born yet. The catholic church really just had a power play with Galileo. Think of it as a business, if some guy contradicted your slogan, and you could get rid of him........you get the point. To think of it as a conspiracy to keep the public from "free will" is pretty far out there, since free will already existed lol.

    But what i mean is that, it served its purpose to keep a population under control. Nomadic tribes don't have government, and most religions were that thing that would keep the population under control so they didn't go apeshit with idol worship and shit.
