Could be regular monthly/seasonal maintenance. There are working hacks, and no additional information on the vindictus website. So frankly it doesn't really matter.
considering there was no client update and nothing seems to have changed it looks like it was just a regular maintenance, nothing special. Nexon actually does work on making the servers run better. The better they run, the less they need to buy and service.
