Ok.. it seems like everyone is a bit slow to the party. Firstly, there was only a problem with the original TOS (It basically said that it would collect data and wasn't specific in anything). People threw a bitch fit and they fixed it. The information they are listing are COMMON things they collect -> both supplied by you and aggregate data that they have collected since the dawn of time. The only thing that gets me is the cell phone bit... but I guess that can be put in with the aggregate data bit as well.
I just wish people would read the damn thing. They're collecting information but it isn't spyware designed by robot-nazi-Illuminati as a tool to to melt our brains, either.
ok again, its just a warning. u can take it or leave it.
ea a big company that got lots of $$$ is using the free apache.
ea isnt the place where I want my data safed thats why I uninstalled it.
oh and this is funny^^:

"For too long cooperate gangsters have controlled the creativity of our gaming environments. We seek to challenge this. We have done countless hours of work and are proud to release our first cracked version of EA’s Origin root kit. We have single handedly ripped the evil fangs out of this spyware by permanently deleting its malicious code and preventing its nasty reporting home future. We have also disabled the encryption on the traffic so they you too may be able to create and design off of our work. We’ve also disabled account verification, so that anyone can play for free; simply enter an email address and login. Please, lend us your support in this fight for the freedom of art! If you can code, help us code. If you’re rich, send us funds. And, if you’re a gamer, spread the word."
Nexon does that.
This is hectic,
Can EA only collect data when origin is running?
Are you positive any one can say stuff on the internet for all we know they could have there own malware in there to get people to use it and sign with their EA account.
For all we know those people could be getting Origin accounts from users logging in on their so called "Cracked Origin."
They can only collect data that you most likely allow, they can not collect any personal or private data.
but they can collect system information like what kind of OS your running, your ip, address, your name, your phone number, and stuff like that, kinda like what a website would almost collect but a little more.
Yes they can collect only data when Origin is off and on, also Steam does the same thing but collects different data then Origin does.
Oh fuck i downloaded hacks. And some free porn..
This has turned into a conspiracy thread.
Agreed.
The so-called "cracked" Origin is A) Not a virus, B) Not a way to get games for free, and C) Completely cut off from Origin and EA servers.
So if you've still got your tin foil hat on, you might think about trying the modified Origin. It does not appear to communicate with any EA servers (this also means you'll still have to run vanilla Origin to buy/download games).
I think origin is a VERY good idea need to secure down on the hackers hacking ranks and stuff... i mean REALLY? just level yourself up its a BETA!
The Year 2000 problem (Y2K, Millennium Bug, Millennium Virus) came about due to programming practices involving the use of 6 digit dates (dd/mm/yy) vs. 8 digit dates (dd/mm/yyyy). This results in the possibility of a date such as 31 being misinterpreted (is it 1931 or 2031?). Thus, any computer program which deals with 6 digit dates is susceptible to the Y2K problem.
In other words, everyone was freaking out because they thought bank computers, etc. would fail or get this bug, which could cause economic collapse or something to that effect.
Origin most likely wont see it, as they don't really look for programs in your computer, plus they can for origin to see anything on your computer gotta give it admins rights but since people just run it with out admin rights it cant search anything your computer besides some programs. Like OS, Ram, Video card, Ip, Address, and stuff like that. They can't really look into your computer and see what you have on it other then processes and hacks. Even if they see hacks on there, they cant tell it's hacks because they can't get the file from your computer. Same goes for anything else.
