It may be more expensive but its definitely better. The i7 4770k is significantly more power efficient. The multi-threading is a little better but the single-threading is significantly better. The 4770k single core speed is way faster. Yes the 8 core's base frequency and turbo frequency is better but if he wants an i7 that has the same base frequency pay $20 more for the 4790k. The 4790k also OCs to 4.5GHz I'm pretty sure. You seriously DO NOT need an SSD for gaming! If he really wants one save up for one after he buys everything else. It's not worth sacrificing performance over wait time.

it's not that much difference. The price, however, is very big in difference. I'm just saying, it's not a lot of difference and especially not when you compare the prices. I'm trying to say you get way more for your money then intel.
