    Lockpicking

Got into it about a week ago as a hobby, basically got the basics and was able to pick a transparent beginner's lock, a practice doorknob where I can't see the pins, and my school combination lock that has a keyhole at the back. As of recently, I've been trying to pick a commercial masterlock No.3 but can't seem to get it open, pin in the very back never seems to go all the way down but not 100% sure if that's the problem. Anyone have any experience with lockpicking? Was thinking about buying and trying a bump key since I heard it's easier, though louder.

Used to do some lock picking as a kid because my parents would lock my PS2 in the closet.

I've used a bump key before and they get the job done but in the long run, they will fuck up your lock. You're pretty much brute forcing your way in. Other then that, I don't know much else about it. I stopped after I made a duplicate of the key.

I've seen several different lock-"smith" kits on Geek/Wish.
See if you can find some sweet tools to help your efforts there maybe.

If you do end up getting a lock-smithing kit from somewhere, please let me know how it goes.
I was actually thinking about getting into it too, I enjoy security.

I actually practiced that, and eventually I was able to pick a doorknob with a bobby pin pretty successfully.

Bumps are good if the lock isn't yours, lol.

I managed to pick open the two commercial masterlocks no.3 in the lounge area on my dorm floor. Used a rake. The lockpick set I borrowed from the dude on my floor that taught me how to lockpick. I'm pretty sure it's this set: https://www.amazon.com/Ehdching-Leat...=lock+pick+set

I don't know a lot about this area in particular, but that looks like a pretty decent set, I've seen similar, some having different components.
Also, some for different types of locks. That wasn't too expensive neither.

How much would you say your success rate is with it so far?
What problems besides OP have you had?

Not sure how I would calculate success since the only way I would fail is if I give up or if a lockpick breaks. I locked the two masterlocks and tried to rake them open again. Manage to open one in a minute or two but had trouble on the second one so I gave up. Will probably give another try tonight. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
