- You put a semicolon in a sentence only in between two independent clauses or if you're listing crap.

Example: It is getting dark outside; we should go home.

- There is a difference between "then" and "than".

"Than" is only used when refering to quantity and "then" is only used when you're refering to time.

Example:

I have more than you.
Then your mom had intercourse with your father.
