First of all, this money goes to poor people, not the government. Second, you only pay Zakat (charity) if you can afford to, otherwise you do not have to. So it is not a "burdensome, charge, obligation, duty or demand".
And what do you mean multiple accounts? I don't know that Robin guy, even tho we share some of the same beliefs.

You know the differency between charity and tax? Even tax is subject to not be applied to people who can't afford it you know?
The difference is tax is mandatory while charity is encouraged only.
----------------------
When you force charity on people, its no longer charity, but a tax.
---------
Even if it goes to poor people and whatnot(which either they have the worse distribution system ever, or its just broken), the fact is that no matter who it goes to, if its forced payments on a group of people, its a tax.
LMAO this kid calling zakat tax. When you choose to follow Islam no one forces you. It is up to the person to give zakat he is not forced. If he doesnt give zakat he doesnt get sent to prison or fined, its completely up to the muslim whether they do it or not no one is forcing them. But it is one of the pillars of Islam and it is there for a reason, to help the poor. But no muslim is forced to do it so it is charity not Tax.
