I laugh at everyone who says Xbox is better! This is he first time the PS3's ECDSA algorithm has been cracked in almost three years!
For those who want the private key for firmwares up until 4.21, I have provided it in this thread

Wow, sony is fucking retarded. So much for signed code...
There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.
If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?
They Only Crack/Hack the Best Stuff... I'm a Proud PS3 Fan Boy...
That article is trash, first of you all this will not be as wide spread as the article claims as it is only possible for 3.55 CFW users to upgrade to newer CFWs because Sony patched updating to the same firmware version after 3.56 and onwards.
Sony can also change up the ECDSA Algorithm like they did with the 3.56 firmware update, so it's not going to be hacked permanently, but it will take some time for them to rectify the issue.

Apparently all the Xbox fanboys in this thread forgot about how many times they had to wrap towels around their consoles or wait weeks for a new one when they got the Red Rings of Death.

I know nothing about the PS3, however...
My understanding of the issue is this:
The public & private keys for firmware encryption\decryption are known. AFAIK, the private key is usually hard-wired and hidden inside the system where it will hopefully remain undiscovered. Any firmware that is not signed (i.e encrypted with the private key) will not be accepted by the system, however now that the private key is known, the firmware can be properly encrypted with the proper key and uploaded on to the system
So how is sony going to change the private key with a software update? I don't believe that is possible, unless ofcourse it isn't hard-wired (but again, I imagine it would be.)

It is hard wired but with the 3.56 update they added another layer known as the lv0.2 which prevented the firmware from being cracked until now. This all has to do with the hashes stored inside the syscon and it's the reason why only 3.55 users can use the new firmware. Sony is safe for now, but until developers such as Rogero solve this problem then it won't spread like wild fire like it did the first time.
