You do not need to dual boot yet. You can install Ubuntu on a flash drive or CD and run it right off of the CD to test it out. Note, you WILL hate it until you get the hang of it. I have Ubuntu on an external HDD and it took me from the 6th release to the 12th to finally completely understand it and learn it inside and out. Once you do understand it, you can do a lot with it. Customization is an understatement, it is completely Open Source, so because of this you can do anything you want. ANYTHING.

So somehow you can compare it to Android or Linux for PC?

And after you got the hang of it, did u prefer it over windows?

Ubuntu is a Linux Distro in itself. That's what makes it so versatile. Android is also a Linux Distro. I love Ubuntu, much more than Windows, however unless you can find custom drivers for certain things or are able to program compatibility for executables yourself the amount of software available is fairly limited. Though Open Source variants of famous software for Linux is available EVERYWHERE.
