It says nothing about turning it completely off via privacy settings. It can be turned off by unplugging it, which doesn't change the fact that it's always on when you're gaming. If it really was in the privacy settings, why require it always be connected to begin with?

The "used game" functionality sounds like bullshit to me. Not the entire thing, but the specifics. It wouldn't have been included if it was just simply for nothing, the disc already acts as an anti-pirating feature. It's probably free, but for a limited set amount of times or something like that. Maybe I'm wrong, but considering all the anti consumer shit already in place on the Xbox, I have no reason to give M$ the benefit of the doubt.

I wonder how it'd affect games being brought over to friends houses.

The end run is DRM screws over legit customers, and pirates will still play it without a care in the world. Maybe everyone will switch to PC gaming if PS4 pulls the same bullshit.

I read that microsoft might try something with the kinect.

What they will do is let's say you pay for a movie on netflix or something, the kinect will see how many people are in the room and charge for each person.

Even though all of them come with a Kinect, you're REQUIRED to have it connected to use the Xbox. Also, the device will always be listening, while this is probably for voice controls, combined with internet required, the Xbox could possibly spy and record you. I guess it could be a potential notice, if you crack your Xbox for any reason (legal or not legal), you could be snapshot and sent to Microsoft.

With their new draconian Xbox, and shift away from consumer friendliness, I'd say it's safe to say stay away from Xbox one.

I'm assuming the always on kinect has to do with showing you ads that are somewhat related to your interests.
