Yeah sexy thumbnails (literally have a picture of a hot girl) could work. But the video has to be relating toward it. Like Vines, Fails, Striptease, ETC

I would just say: become people's person.

- Go to the forums of the game you wish to present and see for a week or so what people like about that game. Then make a video about that and post it in the forums.
- Or, go to Steam, create a Group and make mods! Along with the mod post a video with a play through or even make a trailer of your mod.
- Also speaking about Steam, you can make giveaways through your Group. Thousands will join your Group and if you manage it correctly, you will gain a certain amount of viewers daily.
- Last but not least, always be yourself on Youtube. Do not swear like others, do not make unpleasant noises just to get the attention and Always do something fresh! Don't just stick on walkthroughs, gameplay montages, funny moments. Use an editor and experience on that, find something new and pleasant to watch and just support it! If your fans like it, continue it. If not, ask them what they like.

And imho, never post "dirty", "naughty" thumbnails. I never watch the videos with such thumbnails, no matter how many views they have. If you can't post a quality thumbnail, you do not deserve any views, at least that's what i say.
