Op I don't know if you realized this but your original question was asking what software we would recommend to code C++. Just about everyone here will recommend Visual Studio (and someone unnamed will recommend notepad.exe ), which they did. Question should have been answered. (For a quick reference how to use it you can find a plethora of videos on youtube).

After that you asked for a recommendation on books to read. Someone gave you a small outline of what to look for in books.
Had you actually looked prior to asking you would have found this this and this (literally the first result for googling "best C++ book"

C++ is what? Learn to talk with technical language.

Newer C++ books would teach the newer additions to the C++ language ( C++11, C++14 etc. ) while older ones would teach just the basics.
C++14's features list is very small and not so much important, it's a SMALL extension of C++11.

Learning assembly is nothing like learning C++ or some other HLL, the things that differentiate it from other HLLs are the ones that make it harder to master. You know it's not only understanding assembly, it's more like writing flexible and improved assembly code.
