I can understand this. Not a fan of it myself but it was the fastest way into software development (my job, if you recall). Another junior enlisted guy I know just got the boot literally today after 2 years for being a shitbag and he has 4 job offers from $60-$85K from the other software contractors on base. Joining was a calculated move, but with many downsides. I don't plan on staying in after this contract.
