He got clocked hard and didn't see it coming, he ran in uncharacteristically trying to punch the trash talker, it's all mental warfare.

I don't believe it was staged at all, it was a classic catching your opponent between punches. That punch went right through Aldo's jaw just look at the replay. It doesn't get much more legit than that, there was no dive or any fishy business on this one.
