Everytime you downlaod a hack read the virus scan.

My computer was infected by a virus yesterday called a Worm.

I think I received it from a download I made on mpgh.

Becareful of it.

I am on my friends lap top and I will not be on for a few days.

My new montage will not be made for a LONG time as I need to fucking format my computer...

Which means I need to redownload all that shit on my computer.

Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Combat Arms, all my hacks...

I know this is kind of spamming but its also a warning to people who dont read virus scans and download stuff. (like me)

They infect EVERYTHING on your HDD.

Said worm not virus, two complete different things.

Won't do much good, Worms are stored in system restores... In fact, system restore should be disable before running the anti-virus' - turn it back on after everything I mention below, and as a note, yes when you shut off restore you will lose all your restore points.


Did you purchase your PC/Laptop with vista on it?
If so, you have two more things to ask yourself

Is there a second partition called recovery, if so , Look through your startmenu or sometimes a dashboard and restore to factory settings.

if there isn't a second partition, answer this question, did you receive a blank cd that says backup your computer now, and you said "oh i'll get to it later"?

Next,

Worms almost NEVER modify or infect existing files on your computer, they usually are self contained,

Worms are harder to remove for reasons like, attached to running process, or connected to vital registry information, etc.

Easily remove most harmful (notable worms) safely with Avast Virus cleaner or Kapersky, in either case , it isnt as bad as most belief, it's more knowing how to handle it, use one of those programs first, after that , (to remove any existing files) Download superAntiSpyware (not virus, that's malaware, antispyware) Run it... Remove any and all virsus.

After that, boot in safe mode, run both (if possible)

Actually, they do infect your files, as they are parasites and attack the host, a worm does not often target the files of the computer to do damage, they often release a backdoor so the user can come back in a later time, they are spread by the network and the network should be disable, as it'll use your friend email addresses to try and spread you can see this by the 'click this picture' link they send you.

One of the worst worm in human that caused a worldwide panic and the Israeli government to launch it database into red alert-MyDoom or known as the ILOVEYOU Virus, using emails from any sources it can find and then creating a fake letter title, "I LOVE YOU." So lovers and love ones will open the letter and get infected at work, at school, at home, etc.

The Nachi worms, are use to spread helpful things.. by going to the Microsoft website, download files you need without you having to do that.

I said almost never infect existing files on your computer (which is fact).

And they are not as bad as everyone would have one believe (in the sense of dealing with the problem)

My point, is don't format if you don't have to , Almost everyone is this thread said, Format.... and it's not always necessary, in fact it is more then a last resort, better to try all options , I am lucky enough to have 3 redundant backups (kinda like time machine (mac), but not....) But for someone who has numerous important files, pics, music, etc and no back ups, that's a horrible resolution.
