How much CPU are you using when the game is running? tryed running the game in lower graphics? and ingame press ESC there is a 1,2,3,4,5 graphics bar try change that?

As nuke said changing the graphics setting would help also not running anything in the background would help out a little bit as well. Other than that you'd want to update your graphics card and RAM for increased results.
