I have never studied Brazil and what life is like in Brazil. People have said the usual, "Crime, violence, gang and drugs."

Brazilian culture is truly amazing, they have great events, people are generally good dressed at those days. It's a true experience. As said by Dave there is a huge contrast between the rich and the poor like in pretty much all Latin-American countries. There is a huge amount of criminality so it's quite dangerous. If you haven't informed yourself well eniugh on where to go and where not, there is a good chance you'll lose your wallet and passport.

One of the major issues however, is the internal drugs war that is taking place. A lot of drugdealers there making great amount of money. They have deals with corrupt police and eventually distribute the drugs to the rich students (mostly).

So to counter that there is a military group fighting that. That war is a really unpleasant war. Lots of deaths happening, but onfurtanetly necessary at the state the country is in
