Will selling items in Pokemon GO be a thing?

I mean being the Marketplace Overlord I can tell you I've seen hundreds of Pokemon GO Boosting services started and at least 50 "selling X level" Pokemon threads. I'm sure there's a Market for it because like any game people aspire to be the best.

Potentially. I'm not apart of upper staff (nor administration) so I can't really determine that. Furthermore, there's a difference between a game being popular and a section being popular on MPGH. There's no doubt that this section has quite a bit of activity but nothing in comparison to the other game sections with Marketplaces.

If this section continues to have a steady increase in activity there's no doubt a MP will open up here. Doesn't mean threads won't still be made in the Marketplace however, the most active section on MPGH.

Pokemon trading would be awesome. They should also give you a random amount of candy for sending them to the prof. like 1-5 candy per pkm
