Important announcement: Two Factor Authentication added

Attention all MPGH users,

Two Factor Authentication has been enabled on this forum. To enable it go to Settings > My Account > Two Factor Authentication. Enabling two factor authentication requires a phone capable of downloading and running Google Authenticator.


What is Two Factor Authentication?

Two factor authentication is additional security that limits the ability for unauthorized devices to login to your MPGH account. In association with your password, you will need to type in a 6 digit rolling number, that expires every 30 seconds after every time you login with your password. This will verify to our website that you are the indeed the actual owner by verifying you indeed have access to your phone are the only one that can only generate your one time authentication code.


What does this mean for you?

Members have had issues with having their MPGH accounts accessed by unauthorized users. These people have been using these accounts to scam members using the trusted user's hacked account. Now with two factor authentication enabled, you no longer have to worry about someone gaining access to your account with your permission.

WE WILL NO LONGER NOT HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ARE "HACKED." IF SOMEONE SCAMS WITH YOUR MPGH ACCOUNT, IT WILL BE TREATED AS YOU DID IT. You will be responsible for returning/replacing the stolen goods We strongly recommend you enable two factor authentication immediately.

Google Authenticate spaces out the two parts of code. IE: "123 456", Enter the code with no spaces "123456".

Thanks for adding TFA. It's always great to have a second barrier of security added to my account. Setup took like 20 seconds since I already had the google authentication app which was pretty nice.

They can still get your account if they DoX you hard enough. I don't see the justification in the big red text saying "YOU DID IT". People will be hacked regardless of double authorization.

If you give me your desktop to fix your shit, I'ma have access to all of your information. Even If I have to use one of those harddrive decrypter things that you can bring back old overwritten memory. I just disagree with that statement that "ITS YOUR FAULT".

You don't understand how computers work. If you log in period, just by typing your password, it is saved (in a cookie for example) and computers never delete things, they overwrite things. You have to overcharge the hardware until it melts to 100% delete the data. That's how the FBI does it.

Yeah, they can Dox you all they want. Then they can buy a plane ticket, take an uber to your house, kick in your front door, find you in your bed, steal your phone, grab the 30 second one time password, login to your account, and scam people.

Can you explain my phone part of this process @Arunfroce ? I wanted to use my friends phone to scan the QR code. But I didn't quite understand if it's more safe to use my own phone or not, because I currently own this Nokia phone.

You would be dependent on your friend to provide the OTK (one time key) every time you login from a new device. Better to just leave it off IMO, or use an emulator, unless you're OK with that and you trust him, he still can't login without your MPGH password so just think it over. It's not necessarily a risk unless he knows your MPGH password.
