I have the s5 neo. Rooting is apparently easy, I'm just to lazy to do it. Otherwise I'm 100% in!

nice.
@Nyaro rooting a phone is easier than choking yourself to death
Yea sure root it. I root my phones right after warranty finishes and flash Cyanogenmod on it for extra customization.
You should've installed the GApps package after rooting it. You probably installed custom ROM I guess? Just watch some tutorials or visit XDA the best site. Only thing I envy about samsung phones is that they are easiest to root and highly customisable. My Galaxy S1 never got an update after 2.3.6 Gingerbread but still managed to Run Android 5 Lollipop on that. Had another Asus phone couldn't do much shit just root and use root needed apps but not custom ROMs unlike Samsung Phones.
Head over to XDA, each phone has a different set of instructions, files needed, steps to be done and workflow but all are easy. If you still can't undrestand head over to YouTube it's filled with DIY tuts.
GL and update me when you conquer over your fear of rooting

I wouldn't root my phone. It makes it less secure.
If you want to play Pokemon Go at home, use Nox or something on your computer.

Root it if you have to.
