    Custom Built PC

    Hey everyone!

    I made my own custom Gaming PC last summer with;
    Intel I5-4440 Haswell
GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
    8GB HyperX Fury
    Rosewill 650W Modular Power Supply
    Gigabyte GTX 750Ti
    ATX Mid Tower Case
    1 TB HDD Toshiba
    1TB SSHD Seagate

I have also built a gaming pc for my brother recently and have like 2 spare pcs lying around wanting to sell.

About 2-3 months ago I started getting problems, Random freeze grey screen with beeping noise during gaming. I think its a problem with the graphic card or the ram and since the Graphic card is still under manufacturing warranty I will contact gigabyte after I get back from vacation.

    Hmm.

What's your temps on your card and CPU. Which could result in a tempature alert.

Signs of GPU's dying honestly are blue screens, drivers not loading, drivers crashing alot. And if you have a bunch of white lines on your screen when you start your PC. Your card is dead. lol.

    Gray screen, weird.

Most likely something else and not your GPU.

computer freezes and a gray screen with vertical lines gets stuck on the monitor. If a sound was being played on the computer then that gets stuck in a loop with the freeze as well. I have to hard restart the computer to get it back running. Ctrl-alt-delete etc, does not work.

Have you tried putting your Monitor Output through the Onboard Graphic instead of through the GPU Card? If it still persists, you should take note at what the beeping errors are. Each and every Motherboard has an explanation on each Beep in their Guide. Be sure to take a look at them and identify them.

if the machine is beeping, is it a actual beep from the PC itself or is through the Headphones? If it's from the Machine, that means there's some kind of error. Here are some BIOS Beeps from your Mobo

AWARD SOFTWARE BIOS: 1 Short Beep
    System Normal: 2 Short Beeps
CMOS Error: 1 Long beep & 1 Short Beep
Memory Error: 1 Long Beep & 2 Short Beep
GPU Card Error: 1 Long Beep & 3 Short Beep
AGP Error: 1 Long Beep & 9 Short Beep
    Memory Error: Continuous long beeping
Memory not correcty installed: Continuous short beeping

AMERICAN MEGATRENDS BIOS: 1 Short Beep
    Memory Error: 2 Short Beep
Memory Parity Check Error: 3 Short Beep
Basic Memory 64K Address Check Error: 4 Short Beep
Real Time Clock Malfunction: 5 Short Beep
    CPU Error: 6 Short Beep
    Keyboard Error: 7 Short Beep
    CPU Interruption: 8 Short Beep
    GPU Error: 9 Short Beep
    Memory Error: 10 Short Beep
    CMOS Error: 11 Short Beep

Please try and tell us if it still persists to happen or not. Thinking if it happened or not does not help. There's only Yes or No.

Yes I do recall it occurring despite doing that. And what I mean by beep is its through the headset or the speakers, and at the time of the freeze whatever is in the background gets looped and repeated until hard reset. from what u described the beeps I would think its a memory error. So I can try buying new set of RAMs and see if the problem persists

If you're using two sticks, I'd advise you to boot with a single RAM Stick and see if the problem still persists. If you're using Single Channel RAM (One Stick), you should buy new RAM that's compatible with your MoBo.
But do try to confirm if it's really a RAM Issue. AMERICAN MEGATRENDS and AWARD are using completely different Beeping. If you're sure it's a RAM Issue, buy new RAM Stick(s) that's compatible with your MoBo.
