Got any tips/advice that you wanna give to an incoming College Student?

Community College =/= Lack of intelligence.

Some people would prefer not to be stuck in office jobs and would rather be hands on in the trades or just like the general atmosphere of a CC then a university.

focus on finishing your major prep classes, this is really important.
your first year at CC you want to try to get your GE classes out of the way (i learned this the hard way)
try not to fall behind on classes, failing a class will hurt you, you could always retake it but you would be wasting time, i mean if your paying for your classes, might as well try your best.
if u want to transfer in 2 years, take at least 15 units per semester (summer classes help as well)
take advantage of your resources (counselors, stem center, library, tutors, OFFICE HOURS)

i am currently attending a CC, going into my 3rd year, stem major so its taking a while to finish major prep classes, will be applying this year for transfer

Ended up getting kicked out for failing and owing $8,000 from loans I took out. I ended up taking up a 2 year break because I was scared if I went back to school I would owe even MORE money. But i'm currently in a CC gettings only A's & B's, slowly raising my GPA

Focus in school, because time rolls around real fast and hit you when you least expect it. Find something you like and stick to it. Fuck around too much and you'll find yourself in the corner angry at yourself because you skipped classes, didn't read textbooks, complete assignments, etc.

You most likely will have class requirements to be done within your first 30 credit hours and then another set of classes to be done in your first 90 hours (overlap, yes). If you haven't signed up for classes already, please do yourself a favor and make sure you're meeting the requirements or will be meeting the requirements.

Work ethic is a huge one. Depending on how well you did in high school or how not well you did, you need to remember college is real, you are most likely paying for it as Shane said so try your best because failing a class is throwing money down the drain. You also begin to fall behind if you're not taking the correct steps to rectify your mistake (ie summer courses, online) which also means more time in college.

I noticed you're going to a community college which is a fantastic financial route to take. Check if your CC has the bachelors degree you'd like unless you're already planning on transferring. In order to graduate with a bachelors in four years you must be taking at least 15 credit hours a semester. I enjoy my summers. I take 15 each semester rather than some who think you can take some here, some there. You want to be done with college in as little time as possible depending on your major with the least debt.

Great advice, really appreciate it I had a 3.7 Avg. GPA my Junior/Senior year so paying attention/work ethic are firmly in place.
