How to play MW2 with Zero Gear demo on 182 patch

Have you been VAC'd? Not to fear! This guide will help you play the latest MW2 patch (1.0.182) without worrying about VAC.

(This is basically a VAC bypass for the 182 version of the game. This does NOT work with pirated versions of the game.)

Firstly, you need to have the newest version of MW2 installed.

Second, get the Zero Gear Demo on Steam (Zero Gear Demo on Steam) (<--- I can't upload that to MPGH, duh xD)

Once the ZG demo is fully installed, delete everything from the Server folder (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\zero gear demo\Server). (Not the folder, just the files)

Copy and paste (or move) everything from the MW2 install directory (Found in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2) to the Sever folder inside the Zero Gear Demo folder.

After you have done that, edit the ZeroGear.bat file (Right click, edit) in the main ZG demo folder so it say's: "cd Server
START iw4mp.exe" (Without the quotes), then save and exit.

Run Zero Gear Demo from the My Games list in Steam. If you have done everything correctly, it should launch MW2 instead of Zero Gear Demo.

PS: I figured this out after I was VAC'd yesterday, and this also works with accounts that are not banned.

I have tried this, many thanks for the info.

However..... i get an error when playing, about 30 seconds into the game i get a "Notice - Steam Connect Failed" and then i am kicked back to lobby.

I switched to running my purchased non banned copy and i carry on playing fine. Is anyone else finding this?

So this really makes you play on the 182 patch, and not on the bad and old cracked server that you play on if you didn't buy the game?

Can someone try this out with an unbanned account? Maybe VAC doesn't work in this.

I've tried it, and so far, it works with both banned and unbanned accounts (a couple of my friends let me borrow theirs). And for the guy who said he couldn't connect to Steam, that means you don't have Zero Gear Demo downloaded correctly.

Are you sure you have all the correct Steam/MW2/Zero Gear Demo files in check? If not, it mean's that you'll get this message.

Fix for Steam Connect Failed: Close Steam. Delete the clientregistry.blob file from the Steam folder, then restart Steam.
If that doesn't work, try moving the steamapps folder from the Steam folder to your Desktop, then completely reinstall Steam. After Steam is reinstalled, close it out then move the steamapps folder back to the main Steam folder, then open Steam back up.

The problem is, i can play for about 2 min. And than "Steam connect failed"

NO luck here.....Keeps saying "Failed to join Steam lobby".....Anybody have any input on this error?

EDIT: Still trying to join game but same error is occurring. Btw, trying this on my BANNED account.
