Am I biting off more than I can chew???

Hi guys, I guess I've a little bit of a story (I truly apologize if I bore anyone).

My eight year old son (and I) absolutely loves BO2. He's gotten to the stage where he's been begging me to get him a mod menu and will do anything for it, and being a loving and supporting father I have started us on track to learning Spanish, Mandarin and Sign language among other things in order for him to earn a mod menu (can't expect him to learn it if I'm not willing to do it too). Well after many hours Googling the subject I came across this site, started reading the threads (understood none of the code or the slang/acronyms guys were talking about) and had a sudden epiphany! Why not teach him (well both of us) how to code??

Can anyone please give me any advice on where to start (books/ downloads and or sites) to give both of us a solid foundation on basic coding (to become code literate), and where to move onto after that? Or should am I biting off more than we can chew and should just forget about learning to code, and look for a BO2 mod menu to upload?

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest you to go look for a mod menu, there is no point in wasting approx 1 year in learning how to code for a game which is already 4 years old.
