Thoughts on YouTube's "New Policy" ?

TL;DR

YouTube is basically no longer allowing people to monetize their videos if their video contains the following or breaks YouTube TOS:



Big YouTubers are getting their old videos de-monetized which means those videos won't make any more money. Entire YouTube channels may die out if they do not follow these guidelines.

According to H3H3, they are all doing this b/c of the tags content creators put in their videos. When a "blacklisted" word is used as a tag, an automated system picks up on that and disables/limits monetizing for that video. The reason behind that is advertisers pay YouTube to display their ads on videos which means that they don't want their ads being played on videos that have obscene tags such as rape, murder, and suicide.

In my opinion, I think companies that pay YouTube to advertise their stuff have the right to say where they want their ad to be played. The only wrong doing here is how YouTube (in the past) did not specify any of this to the content creators or to the public. They were and have been doing this behind doors for years. That's shady as fuck if you ask me...

The fact that they are applying it to basically all videos from before this change doesn't seem too right to me.

Should only have applied to videos uploaded as of the change but oh well, at least now it will stop people from posting all this stuff on YouTube if they want money as well

In my opinion, people are going to use explicit language, people are going to talk about topics that are against TOS because YouTubers are human, they can't be expected to nor should they be threatened to lose money over having opinions and speaking freely.

Their platform, they have the right to chose what's shown. Youtube will not die, creators just have to change up their content. It's also not censorship when they demonetize a video that is breaking their ToS. A lot of people are crying 'FREEEEDOM OF SPEECH!" which is retarded because it's their platform. People need to stop crying about it and get rid of the rape, jew, ******, etc tags in their vids.
