Is it posible to make an actual private server?

Now when i used to be megaly addicted to world of warcraft I would usualy played on private servers

basically what understood from a private server was that someone would buy a server and well host games on it for everyone

now i am a bit confused on how the steam system works but what if (for cracked players) someone were to buy a couple of private servers and set it up for cracked players now i know this might never happen but could this strike the start of a thought?

Dude, that's re-posting lolz. You have to click the edit button next to the quote button. First you have to activate your account to be able to do that.

It is, but seeing as the crack for it right now is patched, you'd need to

A. use a working console(none ik atm)
B. crack MW2 again.

You'll have to wait. Both methods got patched.

Don't mean to flame but you must not know a thing about hosting a private server. it is DEFINITELY possible to host one, i am in the works of one right now. but i didnt buy a server my PC is acting as a server, but i have the specs to easily host lag free. My same PC is used to host a WoW server and i hold 5000 players lag free. AS SOON as i get everything perfect i will release.

the best thing is to have your own server rather than your comp bcuz if u run it on a server theres a less likely chance that it will crash

if your talking about a legit copy of the game and you want a dedicated server with a password yes it is possible.

finding someone to host it for you maybe a problem best to host it your self.
and this is for legit copys of the game atm.

as for updating it would update with the game
its just abusing console commands to make a never ending game and putting a password on it.

If your talking about making your own "IW Net" then no one has done that yet and i doubt they will mate as its pointless when zero gear is about.

hey i know more than 40 servrs that do the same thing for mw1 and waw its just a matter of time b4 it comes here but im just trying to encourage some ppl as for my broke ass cant afford to buy a server annd keep it running all day as it would raise the shitake outa my electricity bill

isnt mw1 dedicated servers and not p2p ? and same with wow its a server so yes someone got the server files. but P2P is P2P No server only.
afaik you would have to have someone IN the game as spectator (possible) and just sit there but i struggle to see the point in this tbh can you explain why if you have a legit copy of the game why you would do this?
